‘NEEPCO project site bandh withdrawn’
ITANAGAR, Jul 11: Youth Association of Rose Panchayat (YARP) & Hoj Youth Welfare Society, in a release, informed that the indefinite bandh call at NEEPCO’s Pare Hydro Electric Project site (PHEP), Doimukh has been withdrawn.
The decision was taken by the associations after the issues that compelled them to resort to bandh call were resolved amicably in a meeting held under initiative of Doimukh ZPM Tana Yayo and attended by ADC, Yupia, EAC (Establishment branch), Yupia, EAC, Doimukh, NEEPCO authority, ASM Chairperson, representatives of Pare Project Land Affected Welfare Committee (PPLAWC) and representatives of the youth associations at NEEPCO’s Conference Hall yesterday.
Free medical camp held
ITANAGAR, July 11: A free medical camp was conducted by 36th Bn CRPF under the supervision of Bn Commandant P Johnnes, 36th Bn CRPF at D/36 BN at Wakka yesterday. More than 300 patients were provided free check up and treatment. Seriously ill patients were also identified for necessary treatment. SMO of the Bn also offered some valuable suggestions to the patients to live a disease free life. The camp was conducted in collaboration with the local administration.
Miraculous escape for Pangin ZPM
PASIGHAT, July 11: After attending the first Zilla Parishad Coordination meeting held on July 10 last at Pasighat Pangin ZPM Taben Jamoh along with Ogeng Pajing (Yeksi ASM ) while proceeding to Pangin met with an accident when his personal vehicle (Bolero) skidded off the road 3 Km away from 20 Mile area and fell into 300 mtrs deep gorge and totally damaged. The accident occurred at about 10 pm. However, both the persons had miraculous escape.

Agriculture Development Officer, Basar Tojo Bam while explaining the rodent control measures demonstrated the farmers the baiting and trapping procedures to control the menace of rodent.

National Fish Farmers’ Day celerbated
ITANAGAR, Jul 11: National Fish Farmers’ Day was celebrated in the premise of a private fish pond owned by progressive fish farmer Tana Akin Tara at Midpu under Doimukh yesterday.
Attending an awareness meeting at Midpu in the evening, Fishery Minister Rajesh Tacho assured to extend all possible help to the fish farmers, who wish to take up fish farming seriously. He also emphasized on the importance of fish farming which can be taken up as main occupation by the interested fish farmers, informed senior journalist Taro Chatung, who also attended the celebration.
Tacho distributed 1000 fish seeds to each local fish farmers present in the meeting free of cost.
He also gave away prizes to the winners of angling competition organized by Tana Akin Tara at his ponds on July 9.

It is pertaining to mention here that Akin Tara had initially created one fish pond in 1988. Today, he is the pride owner of five small ponds to breed fish and six big ponds to grow them. He earns Rs 7 lakh to Rs.8 lakh per annum from his ponds.

ITANAGAR, Jul 11: The parents of senior journalist Tongam Rina today said that all the perpetrators of heinous crime be tried in a court of law and punished for what they have done.

The long delay in the investigations and the silence of the agencies and govt had almost made us believe that there was no hope of ever finding the perpetrators.”
While expressing deepest gratitude to the government and to everyone involved in the investigations for bringing this day to a reality, the parents of Tongam said the personal assurances given to us by the Chief Minister and the former Governor have indeed come true.
“However, while we are grateful to the govt for the action taken, we feel that the case is far from resolved. For one thing, our family finds it difficult to easily accept that anyone would shoot our daughter merely for not publishing a news story. Over this year, circumstances have led us to increasingly believe that there is more to the case than what has been stated. Then there is the matter of actually apprehending all the accused, carrying out a thorough interrogation and after having ascertained the facts, having them tried. For our family, a real end to the ordeal will only come when this is done,” the statement read.
“We remain deeply grateful to the people of our state and across the world, who have stood with Tongam and with us through this year of hardship by taking up her cause in rallies, through the social media, through the press and elsewhere. We have been time and again humbled by the affection showed to her. As parents, we also greatly acknowledge the support extended by the Arunachal Press Club and the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists. Every member of these organisations have proven to be a pillar of strength for us. We can never repay the debt we owe each one of them.”
Stating that the only way to do justice is to have the case tried in the fast track courts on a priority basis, the statement further said “It would be a breach of justice if there are inordinate delays in trial and in the process of making those responsible punished for their crime.”
“We earnestly pray that truth behind the incident comes out in due time, no matter how veiled it might be now. We also pray this be the last of such incidences,” the parents said.
Meanwhile, the Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) extended thanks to the Capital Police, particularly the Investigating officer and his team for apprehending the accused in Tongam Rina shooting case, though it took long time to establish the prima facie case. The KAWA appealed the authorities not to grant bail to the criminals.

Centre approves one CRPF Bn for Itanagar
NEW DELHI, Jul 11: Union Home Ministry today approved one CRPF battalion, numbering 1000 trained personnel, for Itanagar to strengthen the law and order machinery and tackle the growing incidence of bandh culture in the capital complex. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki announced this after a meeting with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at New Delhi today to discuss the overall internal security issues of the state. The Chief Minister also met the newly inducted Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami.
The Chief Minister along with MP Takam Sanjoy also called on the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh today. He urged the Union Minister to expedite the establishment of the Greenfield Airport in the state by taking up the funding matter of the same at appropriate levels including the Planning Commission and related agencies.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister along with Sanjoy, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mossang and MLA Karya Bagang held an extensive meeting with Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Veerappa Moiley at Shastri Bhavan. In the course of the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the potential of the state in natural resources and sought the support of the Ministry to enhance the sector for the larger benefit of the state.
They further discussed the potential of setting up an Oil Refinery in Changlang area after proper evaluation and survey.
Accepting an invitation of the Chief Minister, Moiley expressed desire to visit the state in October to personally inspect the potential oilfields of the state.
The Chief Minister also appealed Moiley for allowing the State Government to start certain oil and natural gas exploration and extraction activities to increase revenue generation in the resource crunched state.
Moiley said that he would expedite the matter. The Union Minister also assured the delegation that he would support the setting up of Institutions in the state under the CSR activities covered by the Ministry.
The Chief Minister in response appealed Moiley for establishment of an Institute of Nursing and Para Medical Sciences at Miao to which the Petroleum Minister agreed in principle and sought a proposal from the state government.
No respite from severe power crisis in Pasighat

PASIGHAT, Jul 11: There seems to be no respite for residents of the century-
The High Power Committee (HPC) constituted by Govt for improving power scenario in Pasighat as well as the Power department officials here have come under sharp public criticism as they miserably failed to mitigate the chronic power problem.
The dejected consumers of Pasighat lament that unscheduled power cut and erratic power supply in the past couple of years has made life miserable bringing daily life of people and development activities to a complete halt. They allege that power department engineers, minister and MLAs are sincere only in giving false promises; they do not understand the plight of common people.
Reportedly, the consumers here are not getting electricity even for an hour in a day although they are paying electric bills regularly. It may be recalled that the consumers of electricity led by Pasighat People Welfare Committee (PPWC) had moved the chief minister, power minister and other top ranking power department officials last year seeking their intervention to find a lasting solution to the problem.

Reliable sources said that the state government has allocated about Rs 50 lakh for development of the power scenario in Pasighat area. As such, the government has released several lakhs of rupees for erection of transmission line as well as to meet other mechanical expenditures. But, the power situation remained as it is due to alleged irresponsible attitude of the departmental engineers.
Pasighat town and its adjoining areas have a power demand of about 4 MW. But it has been receiving only 1.5 to 2 KW during peak hours. Apart from the Assam based line, power is being supplied to Pasighat from Ronganadi (NEEPCO) project under central sector.
Is media really the 4th pillar in Arunachal ?

ZIRO, Jul 11: It is said that media is fourth pillar of democracy. Do People in Arunachal Pradesh really consider it as the fourth pillar? The reply is ‘No’. In seven years of work in the field of journalism, I have experience a lots.
Every now and then, I use to publish some important articles related to local problems. It needs extra effort and time to carry on discussions with people having knowledge. Some of the people take it casually while others pass encouraging words.
If a press release of an organization is published against some other party or person, we receive simply ‘thanks’. The other group against whom the release is published will in spite of giving clarification, would pass abusive words and ask how much amount was paid for publication with motive to defame the journalists. Interestingly, if the clarification issued by the later is published, they would unlike earlier time pass a word ‘Thanks’. What’s this? Having no courage to face the organization or the person who is going against them, they target the paper wherein the news or article is carried.
It is also learnt that some people undermines the news papers published from the district and they do count it at par with the papers published from State Capital. Some even desired that articles or news which is against some section of people are not published in district paper though it is published in State papers.
Is it all, a democratic way of approach. Perhaps, unlike other States, awareness on roll of media in Arunachal is very low. Media persons especially of the print media in district will continue to receive both ‘Thanks’ and ‘Curse’. It will continue until people are fully aware on importance of the Fourth Pillar. Buddhists condemn Bodh Gaya blast
BOMDILA, Jul 11: The Buddhist community of West Kameng district organized a series of protest against serial blasts at Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya recently. While condemning the serial blasts, Buddhist community observed Bomdila bandh on July 8. This was followed by public meeting at Thubchog Gatseling Gompa on July 9, submission of memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on July 10 and a mass protest rally which was taken out at Bomdila today in protest against the serial blast at Mahabodhi temple.
Around 5000 people including religious heads, public leaders, youths and students participated in 7 km long protest rally which started from Thubchog Gatseling Gompa and ended at GRL Monastary. The Abbot of GRL Monastery and senior citizen Dorjee Tsering spoke to the huge crowd and registered protest against serial blasts.
Youth leader Pasang Dingla on behalf of the Buddhist community of West Kameng district demanded that the Government ensure safety and security of Mahabodhi temple and other important Buddhist monasteries and monuments in India and abroad.

Bad or no road communication cripples life in Upper Subansiri

DAPORIJO, Jul 11: Road communication has been one of the most serious problems crippling life in Upper Subansiri district.
Bad or no road communication in many places in the district has badly affected not only to development front but also education and health sectors as officers, doctors and teachers reluctant to stay at their places of posting where there is no proper road communication. As a result, there is low female literacy and high infant mortality rates. The welfare schemes of the government never reach to those rural and far flung areas of the district. This has also resulted in migration of rural people to urban areas in search of better education, healthcare and other modern facilities.

The main as well as almost all colony roads of Daporijo Township, including road from DAO quarter to PHED, grid office, PWD link road at medical colony, Polo colony, road from PHED guest house via DMO quarters are lying in pathetic condition. The roads are going from bad to worse for want of maintenance. Traffic jam during office hours has become a part of daily life of town dwellers.
Govt. should check and monitor the quality of road, especially roads constructed under PMGSY. There should not be any compromise with the quality of road.

Through your esteemed daily I would like to knock the door of concerned authority regarding recent eviction of Govt. Quarter Encroacher at G Sector, Itanagar and RoW of a sector road near RD office.
Of late, but never the least the Government step up legal action by evicting sectorial (RoW) and Govt. Quarter encroacher at G Sector, Itanagar, which is much welcome and praiseworthy initiative from Capital Complex Administration part.
But, why Capital Complex administration do not continue drive against Government
land encroachers within RoW (right of way) of sector roads and those who have constructed
building within 4m of government quarters at all sector of twin cities Itanagar-

Police colony is not safe
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of concerned authorities of police department regarding the woes of dwellers of police colony, Vivek Vihar. It’s very unfortunate to tell you that many kinds of mischievous act have been happening in Police Colony, Vivek vihar. First there is no any check point, so regular theft is happening right from lifting of bikes and looting of cash. Another thing is that since there are no street lights at every nook and corner in Police Colony it gives advantage to the KNIGHTRIDERS (Night Stalkers) to accomplish their tasks. There are many problems being faced by the resident of police colony. If police personals are not safe then how the civilian could would be safe? Even most of defence force like ITBP, CRPF etc have their check posts and street lights to vigil illegal activities in their colonies. Being the elite force of the state there must be some safety measures as well as discipline on the line of paramilitary areas. Why this type of apathy from the top brass of police department to their own living area? They should visit colony atleast once in a month to take personal stock of the problems of the peoples. Why most of the facilities being given to top brass only since time immemorial? If police personnel are not mentally fit after thinking about the woes, then how could they perform their duty positively? If police is fit then ultimately law and order would be good. Many a times mud has been slinging on police personnel regarding their failures. But has anyone tried to understand the problems confronting police personnel’s. So there are many unsolved problems from decades and nobody is there to solve it. Some people have almost served 30 years in the department but still don’t have government quarter. This is just an example and many more are there. So it is my request to the government, Police Headquarter, Media, Civil Society, and Municipal Corporation to solve those unsolved problems at the earliest.

According to the report some ministry under state government have adopted the provision of self attestation of document like mark sheet, birth certificate etc. by applicant instead of asking for an attested copy of document by gazetted officer, because asking of attestation of document from gazetted officer not only cost money but also involves wastage of time of the citizen and the government officials. Under the self attestation method the original document are require to be produced at final stage.
Now we can get relief from long queue, ill treatment from officer, save money, save time etc and hope the entire government department under government of Arunachal Pradesh will follow the procedures of citizen friendly method at earliest.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I want to highlight the suffering of people of West Siang. The pathetic road condition between Aalo and Basar makes life hell for the people. It takes more than three hours to complete this horrible, bumpy and accident prone journey.
I had submitted an application from our NGO side to the commandant 44BRTF for early maintenance of the said road but to my surprise they told me that the road is under 726 BRTF situated in Yinkiong. I again sent an application to the said organization and after 15 days they replied to me with an official letter on January that they will start the maintenance work within few weeks. They did started but so far only 3 km has been completed and the work is stopped for the last 8 months. I on behalf of all the people of Aalo request the concern authority to come up with an explanation regarding delay in maintenance work which should be published in Arunachal Times.
